Is online notarization legal in Texas?+
Yes. Since 2018, Texas has allowed remote online notarization (RON) by a notary public commissioned for it, using a recorded video session and identity verification.
What ID do I need?+
A current, government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license, state ID, or passport. If you only have a foreign passport or a consular ID, check our identity guide and let us know before your appointment.
What if I don't have a Social Security number or credit history?+
Identity questions are generated from credit history and public records. If you have no U.S. history, mention it in your request and we'll tell you what alternative is available for your case.
Can I sign if I live outside Texas or outside the U.S.?+
In many cases, yes. Tell us where you'll be when signing and we'll confirm whether your document can be notarized online.
Can you help me fill out my document or give legal advice?+
No. A notary public is not an attorney and cannot prepare documents, choose which document you need, or give legal or immigration advice. We only notarize documents that are already complete.
Are my documents safe?+
Yes. They're transmitted encrypted, stored privately, and only the notary can see them. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
How long does it take?+
